Polish LGBTQ+-Related Anglicisms in a Language Contact Perspective

Abstract Research on anglicisms in Polish has nearly a century-long tradition, yet it was Jacek Fisiak’s 1960s–1980s studies English loanwords that initiated continuous academic interest anglicisms, coinciding with more intensive English-Polish language contact post-war Poland. While loans have been well-researched the last four decades, ongoing intensity of lexical influence Polish, yielding not only new but also loan types, calls for further studies, especially area quickly developing professional jargons and sociolects. The influx English-sourced lexis is reflected diversity semantic fields, whose number grown from 18 (identified Słownik warszawski 1900–1927) to 45 (Mańczak-Wohlfeld 1995).
